5 Ways to do Summer in Aspen
When you think of Aspen, most people think of skiing during the snowy winters. But now that summer is underway, we wanted to remind you that Aspen isn’t just for snowball fights and hot chocolate (even though we wouldn’t blame you for drinking hot chocolate in the summer). Check out the amazing things you can do in Aspen in the warmer months.
Hiking
Those mountains weren’t just made for skiing and snowboarding. It’s time to get your hiking boots on and test your strength on one of the many hiking trails in Aspen. If you are a beginner, try going on the Rio Grande Trail. For those who want more of a challenge, take a whack at an 8.5-mile journey up to Conundrum Hot Springs. Don’t miss the beautiful wildflowers on your way up, which are abundant during the summer.
Live Performances
Whether it’s a music concert or a dance show, there are plenty of live performances you can take pleasure in from June to August, The Aspen Music Festival & School perform classical music all throughout the summertime. The Jazz Aspen Snowmass also provide free concerts in June. If dance is more your thing, the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is the place to go!
Gondola Ride
Take a ride on a gondola up Aspen Mountain. A bunch of activities will be waiting for you when you reach the top. Aside from the sweeping views and the fresh, crisp air, enjoy a yoga class or a round of disc golf! When you get hungry, there is a restaurant called the Sundeck, which serves up a variety of foods that you can enjoy on the outside patio.
Dining
If you’re ready to indulge, you’re in luck. Aspen is anything but short of amazing restaurants. Try out the Forbes five-star Element 47 for some fine dining. The dishes are seasonally inspired and are paired with an impressive wine list. Want to get a taste of the local ingredients of Aspen? Take a stroll through the Aspen Saturday Market, where vendors showcase there best produce grown in Colorado. If you are lucky enough to be in Aspen in June, check out the FOOD & WINE Classic. You’ll have a chance to watch cooking demos and sample delicious foods from well-known chefs.
Retail Therapy
If you have ever been to downtown Aspen, you know that it is pretty packed. This is because there are actually over 200 shops in the area. The stores range from thrift shops to designer boutiques, so there is a shop for everyone! When you are ready to take a break from all the action-packed festivities, strolling through the mall might just be exactly what you need.
