9 Unique Events in Paris, London and NYC in 2023

Many elite travelers have the ultimate trifecta of destinations marked on their travel calendars. New York, Paris and London are synonymous with style, fashion and luxury and you have likely visited these destinations more than once.

With the advent of 2023, we have put together some unique events earmarked for these urban chic centers that just might be of interest to you.

New York City

There is so much to see and do in the city that never sleeps. Here are some happenings in which you might be interested:

The Orchid Show

Each spring, the New York Botanical Garden hosts an orchid show bursting with color. This amazing visual experience is held in the picturesque Victorian-style Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Since 2002, famous Belgian florist Daniel Ost has been creating his “living sculptures” for the show. Each sculpture displays the large multi-color diversity of these tropical flowers while highlighting individual orchids. In the evenings a stroll through the show is accompanied by live music and performances, creating a unique and spectacular atmosphere. Dancers add some motion to the displays. Curated music by internationally renowned DJ X-RAY, is another vibrant touch. His sets were created specifically for the show. Conservatory Plaza fire pits offer cocktails and warm drinks to socialize, meet friends and have a good time. The show begins in late February and runs to the end of April.

New York International Children’s Film Festival

If you are traveling to New York with your children, here is one event in which you will definitely be interested. The International Children's Film Festival in New York was founded in 1997 to support the creation and dissemination of thoughtful, provocative and intelligent films for children and adolescents from three to 18 years old and it's the biggest film event involving them in North America. It encourages active and demanding vision, and stimulates debate among viewers, families and the film community. Presented over four weekends at major venues throughout the city, the festival showcases about 100 short and feature films, filmmaker Q&As, retrospective programs, parties, premieres, and industry forums. As an Academy Award-qualifying festival in the Best Live Action and Animated Short Film categories, the festival attracts a prestigious jury: esteemed directors, actors, studio executives and industry leaders. The festival takes place from March 3-19, 2023.

New York International Motor Show

This show introduces you to the latest automotive trends and offers an incredible collection of cutting-edge design and extraordinary innovation. More than four floors of exhibitions by car manufacturers from around the world. They have all the latest models and the most futuristic concept cars. About 1,000 cars and trucks can be seen in North America's first and largest car showroom. This motor show had its beginnings in 1900. The show runs from April 7-16.

London

BBC Earth Experience

Vault Festival

This festival, running from January 24 to March 19, 2023, is the UK’s hottest festival of live performances of theater, comedy, cabaret, immersive and VR experiences. It’s full of family fun, late night parties and more. Set in bespoke venues across the heart of Waterloo, Vault Festival bursts to life for eight glorious weeks of joyous creativity; adding vibrant color to the otherwise dreary deep winter months. The festival prides itself on being the most accessible, sustainable, affordable, and welcoming performance festival in the country.

Crown to Couture

From the glittering world of the Georgian court to the high glamor of the modern-day red carpet, this exhibition at Kensington Palace will see dazzling contemporary couture worn by celebrities including Lizzo and Lady Gaga, displayed alongside beautiful historic costumes. One of the largest exhibitions ever staged at Kensington Palace, with more than 200 stunning objects filling the palace’s spectacular historic State Apartments, this major exhibition tells the story of how the rules and politics of dress at court have influenced modern-day couture fashion. The exhibit runs from April 4 to October 19, 2023.

Taste of Paris

The Grand Palais will be turned into a showcase for the best restaurants and artisan food producers during four days of gourmet food tastings, cooking shows, and meet-and-greets with the top chefs of France. Sample signature dishes in taster-size portions, served by young, emerging chefs as well as Michelin-starred chefs at pop-up restaurants under the iconic glass dome of the Grand Palais. World-renowned chefs like Anne-Sophie Pic, Cristophe Michalak, Bruno Doucet, Frederic Anton, Gregory Marchand, and Kei Kobayashi will be on hand at the Theatre des Chefs to deliver masterclasses and special workshops. Taste of Paris also features 100 artisan food and wine producers along with the very popular Laurent-Perrier champagne bar where glasses of bubbly will be poured all day long. Nuit des Musées

Art lovers unite! Two million visitors, 1,200 museums and 3,000 events make this night at the museums a sensational success across Europe. During one night in May, Paris museums fling open their doors for a free late-night experience. Paris Museum Night is held on the third Saturday in May (May 14 in 2023) – a wonderful time to stay up and catch some art action. The idea started in Berlin in 1997; in Paris former mayor Bertrand Delanoe grabbed the idea and made it even bigger with guided tours, workshops, screenings, tastings, and live entertainment.

Nuit des Musées is not to be missed if you are a fan of culture and the arts

Yoga Festival Paris

The Yoga Festival Paris is an annual event and one of the biggest of its kind in France. For four days, you will be able to meet experts in yoga, Ayurveda, and similar disciplines. Ninety yoga classes will be offered in three studios. Also on the agenda are conferences focusing on self-care and nutrition. There are also healing workshops and master yoga classes. This is an ideal festival to take in if you are on a wellness getaway. Happens from May 18-21, 2023 at the Parc Floral de Paris.
