David Weisburd and His Dazzling Penthouse Luca

By Diane Ujfalussy Barton

It’s clear from the outset of chatting with David Weisburd that he is devoted to family – especially to his 91-year-old grandmother with whom he was visiting abroad at the time of our talk. It’s also clear this young venture capitalist is a go-getter and extremely intelligent with the penchant for making wise investments with one of his best investments being Penthouse Luca.

On the upper echelons of one of the most prestigious buildings in Miami – The Paramount Miami Worldcenter – Penthouse Luca soars hundreds of feet into the air and has one of the most breathtaking terrace views of the sparkling Miami skyline. It was that view enticing David to make the purchase very quickly, in fact, it took less than five minutes before he decided to purchase it.

“I was aware of the building and when I came into the building and saw the terrace, I thought it was the most amazing space I had seen in Miami and several people also said it was the most amazing space they’ve seen including people who have thrown large events,” David said. “As soon as I saw the outside of the building and the opportunity to entertain and bring people together, I knew that this was the space for me and I ended up negotiating for the space on the spot.”

The intoxicating views of the terrace space in Penthouse Luca is unrivaled.

About David

David was born in Russia and immigrated to the United States Midwest with his family when he was just four years old.

“I’m a serial entrepreneur turned venture capitalist,” David said. “I co-founded 10X Capital and last quarter we were the most active venture capital firm in the US and the second most active globally. I have invested in some of the most prolific companies in the last generation including 23andMe, Clubhouse, Robinhood, Tonal, and Wish, and many others.”

David spent his undergrad years at Indiana State University and received his MBA from Dartmouth University and his Masters degree in psychology from Harvard University.

“I have dual Ivy League Masters degrees and I have focused my life on technology and how it impacts society.”

Penthouse Luca is the first real estate investment David has made in Florida.

“Certainly I want to grow my real estate investment portfolio. A lot of focus is on my venture capital career but I will probably look at the Caribbean or a tropics-based property or something in Paris or London or another part of Europe as my next property,” David said.

With other elite properties from which elite travelers have to choose when they decide on a stay in Miami, David said Penthouse Luca is something different and special. Aside from the incredible space and unparalleled views, the building is located close to Miami’s exciting action and comes with a host of other benefits.

And of course, although luxury homes do come with amenities, they don’t come close to what guests will receive staying at Penthouse Luca.

A Luxurious Space

The 2,500-square-foot terrace space is indeed breathtaking at Penthouse Luca and so are its interiors. The refined elements of the residence were designed by well-known and lauded interior designer Adriana Hoyos, who is also responsible for the interiors of the building’s shared spaces.

“She designed the rest of the building and I knew I wanted to keep that same aesthetic at Penthouse Luca,” David said, adding he wanted the suite to be elegant, welcoming and comfortable where people would feel at ease, yet still be enveloped in contemporary sophistication. “There is a consistent design throughout the entire unit. It’s just a beautiful space. It’s a serene space, when you walk in you feel relaxed.”

Luca’s interior color palette is neutral, but a far cry from ordinary. The residence, with walls dressed in pristine white and sedate slate, are embellished by punches of color with wood, sparkling mirror backsplashes and gleaming countertops. Sunlight swathes the interior thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, adding to an overall urban suaveness, yet an undeniable warmth. The open floor plan allows for terrific camaraderie while entertaining or when spending time with family. Each of the home's four bedrooms, are complete with ensuite baths, is thematically unified and also have spellbinding urban vistas.

The Building

Amenities at The Paramount Miami Worldcenter also played a large part in David’s decision to purchase the penthouse. Frankly, they are head and shoulders above any other complex not only in the US, but worldwide.

“We have a basketball court, we have a soccer field, we have two tennis courts, we have three pools, including a beautiful infinity pool, we have a gym, we have a boxing ring, a movie theater, a spa, and everything else you may desire.

“You come here, you have all these amenities. If you want to discover Miami and spend time in Miami and spend time close to Brickell, then a penthouse is the best option.”

David also said guests with children can rest assured the home is secured and there are indeed many children living in the building.

“There are lots of kids … and dogs. It’s very family-friendly,” David added.
