The Most Beautiful Hiking Trails in Kauai
The beautiful island of Kauai is home to some of the most breathtaking hiking trails. There is a trail for everyone, whether you want to stroll along the beach or take a journey climbing ridges and cliffs. There really is no other island in Hawaii that does hikes as Kauai can!
Kalalau Trail
The number #1 trail on everybody’s list who enjoy a nice scenic hike. It is also known as the Hanakapiai Trail. The trail takes about half a day, starting at Knee Beach in North Kauai. It stretches for 11-miles, involving a bit of climbing and descending. You get the chance to cross the stream at Hanakapiai Beach, where you definitely need to watch your step! But it’s all worth it, once you see the views of the NaPali coastline.
Kalepa Ridge Trail
If views are what you’re looking for, then look no further than the Kalepa Ridge Trail. It is absolutely breathtaking -- visually and physically. This is a trail that we highly recommend a guide for. It can get a little tricky and a guide will make sure you get the most out of everything there is to see. Once you are able to see the views of the Kalalau Valley, you won’t regret your decision.
Nualolo Trail & Awaawapuhi Trail
This “loop” trail will take you along a trip of up-close views of some of the valleys in Kauai and the NaPali coast. Be aware that this trail is definitely not for the faint of heart, for it is a full-day hike. On the other hand, the amazing views of the NaPali Coast make this one a favorite.
Honopu Ridge Trail
This trail was partially destroyed and lost during a couple of hurricanes decade ago in Kauai. Therefore, this trail isn’t considered an official “trail.” However, it is still intact enough to get through if you have the right guide. Just make sure to stick to what looks like a main trail in the beginning and you should be fine! It’s what you find at the end of the trail that makes it astounding. The views are unique to the area, which is why Honopu Ridge Trail makes it on the list!
These are just some of the many wonderful trails of Kauai. It’s definitely hard to choose just one! Always make sure to be prepared for your hikes and know what you are in for. The work you put in will definitely be worth it once you see the views from any of these trails!
