If yachting is something that is in your blood, you have to mark some important dates on your travel calendar.

Everyone who is anyone in the yacht industry will be docked at glamorous Port Hercule in Monaco from September 28 to October 1, 2022 for the illustrious Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). They include the biggest names in yachting like Azimut, Sunseeker, Benetti and Gulf Craft, among many others.

In the Beginning

The MYS was created by Maurice Cohen, head of Media Plus. The French entrepreneur sold the rights to the show to IIR in 1994.

The first MYS was held in 1991 and was broker-oriented, but it has grown over the years to include a wide range of businesses. Repair yards, designers, and fitters, among many others, visit annually. Most years, dozens of new vessels make their world debut. Some are for sale, others display, and many can be chartered. When the event began, the standard for yachts was that they must exceed 20 meters in length. The base standard for a craft to qualify as a superyacht has changed over the years as ever-larger vessels join the oceans. In 1991, a 47-meter yacht would have ranked in the top 100 megayachts in the world. Today, megayachts start at about 60 meters.

One of the Premier Yacht Shows in the World

By the early 2000s, the show was seeing about 20,000 visitors each year. Vendors in 2002 would take up 300 stands. In 2016, the MYS made another massive leap forward when it included Car Deck – an exhibition space for luxury automobiles featuring only the best brands and latest luxury cars. After all, if you’re going to have a garage to bring a vehicle so you can drive around in port, then you will need a top-tier vehicle to place inside.

Monaco Yacht Summit

There will be a number of things to do at the show in addition to viewing all the breathtaking yachts. You might be interested in attending the yacht summit on September 21. There will be an informative panel discussion surrounding superyachting with insights from industry experts. The event is exclusive to yacht owners and charterers who want to enhance their knowledge of the industry, prospective end-user clients and their reps and private wealth managers. The summit takes place at the Monaco Yacht Club from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Perusing all the spectacular yachts at the show can get tiring, you when you retire at the end of the day, you will want to be spending your time in someplace absolutely opulent like Villa Amber. The MYS Superyacht Awards

A panel of yachting journalists will select winners in these categories:
